Dead sea syndrome

I once stumbled on an article that described why the dead sea in the middle east is salty and void of life.

I was amazed to find out that it’s because it receives a lot of water from the Euphrates river but will
never give away what it receives.

This sadly is a picture of a child of God who constantly wants to receive a lot but will never take the
extra step of sharing or giving what he has received. I was amazed when I glanced upon a scripture
revealing that every time we do good and share, God receives it as a well pleasing sacrifice.
Heb 13:16  But go on doing good and giving to others, because God is well-pleased with such
offerings.

Often times we condemn ourselves or believe the lie that we are not good enough to be a
blessing. However, I am reminded of the power of Jesus’ cleansing blood that washes away sin
that is confessed (1John1:9) and Paul’s revelation in Romans,
Rom 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk
not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Our giving not only serves to edify others, but empowers us to grow spiritually, enlarging our
capacity to receive. Remember Solomon wrote,

Pro 11:24-25  There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more
than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
What should be our attitude in giving? Paul reveals in his letter to the Corinthians that it is the
cheerful giver that God loves;

2Co 9:6-9  Now [remember] this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who
sows generously [that blessings may come to others] will also reap generously [and be blessed].
Let each one give [thoughtfully and with purpose] just as he has decided in his heart, not
grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver [and delights in the one whose
heart is in his gift].

And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in
abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need]
have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an
abundance for every good work and act of charity.

As it is written and forever remains written,
“He [the benevolent and generous person] scattered abroad, he gave to the poor,
His righteousness endures forever!”
As we embrace the Spirit of generosity, we set ourselves up for favor both before men and God.

Pro 18:16  A mans gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
Pro 11:27  Living your life seeking what is good for others brings untold favor, but those who wish evil for others will find it coming back on them.

Gal 6:9-10  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint
not.

Gal 6:10  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of
the household of faith.
